Why Track Macronutrients?

While calories determine whether you gain or lose weight, **macronutrients** determine *what* that weight is (muscle vs. fat). A balanced macro split ensures your body has enough protein for repair, healthy fats for hormone production, and carbohydrates for energy.

Our calculator uses a standard **30/30/40 (P/F/C)** split for maintenance, increases protein to **40%** for cutting to preserve muscle, and favors carbs for bulking to fuel heavy workouts. Adjusting these ratios based on your specific metabolism can help break through fitness plateaus.
